Horizons Game Database

This website is the "Bible" for all Horizons players. It is an extremely comprehensive source of information relating to races, schools, skills, formula, spells, tools, buildings and much much more...a definate "MUST HAVE" for all: http://horizons.gamersinfo.net/

Map Pack

Cobal's map pack provides a highly improved version of the standard map with a large collection of map markers all over istaria, a range of new marker icons and in the case of the high res map pack offers a higher detail map too. To help you find markers easier, there are several filters to turn marker categories on and off. The map pack also offers a range of new Icons to use for your own markers.

The download links and installation instructions can be found here: http://community.istaria.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10681

Crafting Calculator

The Horizons Crafting Calculator (HCC) is a vital tool for all players (not just crafters). It is a small stand alone application that allows users to see all "makeable" items and the various skills, resources, components etc that are required to make an item. Apart from being efficient and effective in planning items such as teched armor and jewelry to suit your needs, it also allows for you to save an .xml file of your order, which can then be emailed to your crafter, making you are very "popular" customer :P The HCC can be downloaded here: http://hcc.reclamation.dk/?tag=manual

Chat Mod

Silowyi's ChatMod is a small add-on which gives you two rows of 10chat tabs each, one on top of the other, for a total of 20 tabs (rather than the 8 default chat tabs). It can be downloaded here:

Nullsoft Installer Version:

Zipfile for the paranoid:

Trophy Quests

Pilgrim's Horizons TrophyQuest Page is a very useful wepage listing all Trophy Quests by Level (and Location)

Portals Guide

This is a player made list of all portals in the game. A very useful resource for new players (and silly ones like me), trying to learn to find there way around Istaria. Thanks for all your efforts on this one Jerko - it's been a great help! http://www.geocities.com/jerk_o2002/teleport.html

Setscale

Setscale is a very useful command that allows you to change the display size of a selected object on your screen (including yourself). It's uses are wide and varied, from shrinking Ancient Dragons who are blocking your view (good for little Dryads like me :P) and get yourself "unstuck" when stuck in floor or fallen in holes by "shrinking" or "enlarging" the relavent object. Instructions on "engaging" the setscale option can be found here: http://community.istaria.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31&highlight=setscale

Consigner Search

The Consigner Search page provides an active database of items available on all consigners accross the server (although not always up to date) - still a handy guide: http://community.istaria.com/consigners/
*NOTE: this search facility does NOT include player made consigners.

Colored Text

Often you will notice players have customised the colour of their "chat". To do this, you must enter the following code into you "Default Command Prefix" box in your chat settings: <!--color r=0.9 g=0.0 b=0.0> (This would give you Red text). The numbers can range between 0.0 and 0.9. White would be r=0.1 b=0.1 g=0.1. The RGB values can be tweaked accordingly to find a color that suits your needs.

Interface Guide

Creating and efficient interface within the game can be very challenging at first. Therefore, here is an example of one layout that I find to be very effective and efficient and may provide assistance to new players in planning an interface to suit their personal taste and needs. This is provided by the courtesy of LeWatcher and I thank him for his input and allowing us to share from his experience. A screenshot of his interface can be seen here. NOTE: this is simply one example of how "customisable" the game interface is and is purely a "helpful hint" for new players.

Tips & Tricks

DISABLE LOADING SCREEN:

This will greatly increase your porting and loading time. Simply enter the following command into any chat tab and press enter: /setpref useLoadingScreen false. Similarly, to turn it back on use: /setpref useLoadingScreen true

AUTOMATIC CHAT TARGETING :

You can use %T%, %R% and %L% in messages: %T% will automatically enter the Name of the object/person you have targeted. %R% will automatically enter the Rating of the Mob/Player you have targeted. %L% will automatically enter the Co-ordinates or Location of the Player/Mob you have targeted. For example, you can say "I am at %L%" and your chat will automatically enter your exact location (co-ords).

REPEATING PREVIOUS COMMENTS :

Press enter to activate your chat, then hold down shift and use the arrow keys to cycle through the last things you said so you can repeat them.

DELETING UNWANTED CHAT TEXT :

When typing in a chat channel, and you want to delete your whole line without having to backspace the whole thing (very annoying sometimes)...shift+delete will delete it all.

TRADING WITH NPCs:

The general unit of trade when purchasing forms/techs from NPCs is 'copper credits'. Once you know what an NPC requires you then need to know the value of the currency in terms of copper credits. Here's some examples :

Beginner Lore Token = 1cc
Journeyman Lore Token = 5cc
Imperial Bounty Marker = 1cc
Festival Ornaments = 1cc
Nature Lore tokens = 10cc
